ABOUT
Central Coffee Research Institute (CCRI) was established in 1925 and is a pioneer institute for coffee research in Southeast Asia. It functions under the administrative control of Coffee Board, Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. With a century of excellence in coffee research, CCRI has supported coffee growers by developing improved varieties, better cultivation methods and scientific technologies useful in India and many South-East Asian countries.
CCRI works in nine major fields including Agronomy, Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, Plant Tissue Culture & Biotechnology, Post-Harvest Technology and Coffee Quality improvement.
The institute publishes books, technical bulletins and scientific publications for the benefit of researchers and coffee growers. Technology transfer through digital platforms and social media enables faster dissemination of research findings and field advisories to farmers.
Hence, CCRI initiated **Monthly e-Technical Advisory** in English and six regional languages (Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Odia and Hindi) from 2022 to help planters take timely management decisions for better productivity and sustainable coffee cultivation.
VISION & MISSION
This digital monthly advisory through social media platforms such as WhatsApp provides timely technical guidance to coffee growers, extension officials and stakeholders. It shares scientific and region-specific information on agronomic practices, soil health, irrigation planning, pest and disease management, harvesting and post-harvest practices.
The advisory promotes transfer of research findings from **Lab to Land** for sustainable and economically viable coffee production.
